Most of this website traces the history and lineage of my particular family tree. However, as more information surfaces and I find or am sent other branches to a Gregorich Tree not connected to mine, I'll try to post those as well. Who knows, maybe they'll connect somewhere in time. I also have a page with many names and dates of the other Gregorich's, Greguric's and Vrbanich's not directly related. But for now, let me tell you about my family:

GREGURIC / BLAZEVIC
(to follow a family line, click on the children to go to the
next generation where that information is available)

1865
September 29,1865 Martin Greguric and Kata Brunski gave birth to Mijo Greguric in the Village of Brihovo, parish Zakanje, Croatia.

NOTE: Due to the difficulty in translation of old Croatian records into the English language the original and subsquent family name may be found with various spellings. We have decided to use the GREGURIC version supplied by a professional genealogical service from records located in Croatia.

1871
November 29,1871 Petar Blazevic and Suzana Listar gave birth to Kata Blazevic in the Village of Donja Stranic, parish Lipnik Croatia.

NOTE: This differs somewhat from family records supplied by daughter Catherine (Gregorich) Vrbanich. Kates' records have her mother being born a year later in November 1872 in the Village of Novaki. Both village place names are recorded in the same Parish of Lipnik. As we have previously noted discrepancies in other dates in family documents, we again have decided to use the professional findings as correct. It should also be noted both Parish Zakanje and Parish Lipnik were located north of the City of Karlovac near the Slovenian border. Records of both Parish's are located in the Village of Ribnik.

1885-1890
Mijo Greguric probably came to America during this period. His name is now Michael Gregorich, probably changed by US Custom Authorities.

NOTE: According to family legend Michael came to America and went to Kansas City to live and work in the meat packing industry with other Croatians. He later sent for and married Kata Blazevic (Now Catherine Blozvich) in Kansas City.

Mijo (Michael) and Kata (Catherine) had 12 children:

Joseph was born on July 25, 1891 in Kansas City Missouri and died by drowning in 1899.

Nick was born December 6,1892 in Clinton Iowa. Nick's first wife was named Novak and his second wife was Pearl (possibly born 6-28-1906 / died 6-1990) Nick had 3 daughters and died 12-27-1989

Mary was born on June 11, 1894. She married Gus Jarbak and had 3 children. Mary died in 1960.

Michael (Jr.) was born on February 6, 1896 in South Chicago, lllinois. Michael Jr. had married Anna Stelzman July 8, 1919 at the Mother of God Church in Covington, KY. They had 2 children.

Anna was born on November 20, 1897. She married a Rocknik and had 2 daughters.

Catherine was born on December 12, 1899. She married Anton Vrbanich and had 3 children. Catherine died on 4-1-97.

Barbara was born on November 8, 1902. She married a Taylor and was later killed in an auto accident on 11-2-1976. They had no children.

Matt was born on February 8 (or 17), 1905. He had 2 sons and died in 1970.

Joseph was born on January 1, 1906. With his wife Dorothy, they had 2 children (1 boy and 1 girl). He later died of a heart attack in 1992.

George was born on April 6, 1908. He married Katherine and they had 1 daughter. He died of throat cancer on November 23, 1985.

John Anthony was born on June 5, 1910. He married Stella Sommers and they had 5 children (3 sons and 2 daughters).

Peter was born on June 29, 1912. He was found dead at an early age of 17 in 1929.

Sometime during these years (1897-1912) the family moved to a farm near Grand Rapids Michigan and later to 142nd and Railroad Ave in East Chicago, lndiana where Michael (Sr.) died January 13, 1952 at the age of 86 years. Catherine died a few weeks later on February 26, 1952 at the age of 79 years.
